Agatha Christie's hypnotic language

Hypnosis and the achievement of trance are fascinating topics. However, frequently, we are not aware of being put into trance or into a suggestible mode.

Drive on the road for a period of time and you will not realise that this is already creating a trance-induced state of mind. Watch TV for too long and the same is happening - you are in trance. What about the sleepiness after lunch? Nothing but a state close to trance as well.

In fact, it has been estimated that we go into trance every 90 minutes.

There was now an experiment carried out by scientists from universities in London, Birmingham and Warwick for an ITV1 documentary. These guys analysed more than 80 novels by Agatha Christie and found out that her phrases trigger a pleasure response which cause people to seek them out again and again. The study involved loading Christie's novels onto a computer and analysing her words, sentences and phrases.

One researcher said that "Christie's language patterns stimulate higher than usual activity in the brain."

"These phrases included "can you keep an eye on this", "more or less", "a day or two" and "something like that"." In addition, Agatha Christie also used a limited amount of words that made it easy to fully concentrate on her books without distraction - resulting of her being the most successful author of all times.
